The TV Asahi Group’s corporate mission is to “take part in building a society that encourages the pursuit of dreams and hopes by providing information and content that are both inspiring to and valued by society.”
TV Asahi began broadcasting in 1959 as Nippon Educational Television. Since then, we have strived to ensure that broadcasting serves the public welfare and sustains sound development. We strive to provide content that makes a difference in the world, such as extensive disaster coverage, subtitled programs, and explanatory programs.
We have also been engaged in a wide range of social welfare activities. In 1977, we became the first private broadcasting company to establish a social welfare corporation, the TV Asahi Welfare Foundation. In 1999, we started the “Doraemon Charity Fund,” which supports disaster victims and welfare activities. In addition, in 1967, we established the Commercial Broadcasters Educational Association comprising 33 private broadcasting stations representing regions throughout Japan. As a member station, we have produced high-quality documentaries and worked to nurture program creators across the country.
In support of the spirit of the SDGs, the Group established the SDGs Management Department on December 1, 2021, and formulated and disclosed our Sustainability Policy in line with our Corporate Mission. We aim to evolve into a “television broadcaster for a new era” by producing and delivering a broad range of compelling content—not only through broadcasting, but also through the internet and live entertainment. We will continue to pursue initiatives for a better future so that we may remain a company valued by viewers and customers for many years to come. To achieve these goals, the entire TV Asahi Group will put our heads together, also take action as a corporate entity and work together with society to bring our goals to reality.
