How is programming scheduled throughout the year?

A.

Our programming schedule is renewed on a semi-annual basis. The Spring Programming Season starts in April and the Fall Programming Season starts in October. Special programming weeks are scheduled at the start and end of the programming seasons as well as at the end and beginning of the calendar year. Minor changes in the programming schedule, such as slotting new drama series, take place in July and January.

How are TV Asahi's business segments divided?

A.

From FYE March 31, 2023, on a consolidated basis, TV Asahi reports its business results according to the following four segments: “TV Broadcasting Business,” “Internet Business,” “Shopping Business” and “Other Businesses.” TV Broadcasting Business has further categorizations of “Times sales,” “Spot sales,” “Program sales,” “BS & CS” and “Others.”

Why did the business segment change?

A.

Up until FYE March 31, 2021, TV Asahi’s business segments were “TV Broadcasting Business,” “Music Publication Business” and “Other Businesses.” As “Internet Business” and “Shopping Business” have become important business areas, they have been established as new segments.

What are the five categories in "TV Broadcasting?"

A.

"Time Sales" refers to sales revenue from program sponsorships, i.e., selling commercial time slots in a program. "Time Sales" can be broken down into two categories, "Network Sales" and "Local Sales." When a program is aired simultaneously nationwide with the same commercials, revenues from selling such commercial time is accounted for under "Network Sales." The actual sales activities are handled by TV Asahi and revenue is distributed accordingly among the relevant network stations. "Local Sales" refers to revenue from commercials that are run during a program and aired only within the Tokyo area.

"Spot Sales" refers to sales revenue from commercial time not related to any particular program, i.e., selling commercial time of slots between different programs.

"Sales of Programs" refers to sales revenue from programs without any commercials.

“BS & CS” refers to the revenue from two consolidated companies: Asahi Satellite Broadcasting (BS Asahi) that operates broadcasting satellite business and CS One Ten that operates commercial satellite business.

"Others" refers to revenue from our consolidated subsidiaries' businesses. It also includes such revenue from program productions commissioned by our affiliate company BS Asahi (such as news) and sales of merchandising rights.

What kind of businesses is included under "Internet Business?”

A.

This segment mainly includes “SVOD services” such TELASA, a service started with KDDI; “AVOD services” that comprises TVer and TV Asahi catch-up service; “ABEMA” which is a joint business with CyberAgent; and “Internet video ad distribution platform” that is operated by UltraImpression.

What kind of businesses is included under "Shopping Business?"

A.

"Shopping Business” is comprised of sales of goods from television shopping programs, e-commerce and retail. The business is conducted mainly by two of our consolidated subsidiaries, ROPPING LIFE and ITTY. For television shopping programs, TV Asahi arranges the programming and monitors the programs.

What kind of businesses are included under "Other Businesses?"

A.

"Other Businesses" includes various business activities peripheral to broadcasting business that do not fall under “TV Broadcasting Business,” “Internet Business” and “Shopping Business.” Major businesses include music publication, special events production, sales of DVDs and videos, investments in motion pictures, property rental, sales/lease of broadcasting equipment, etc.

When was TV Asahi stock listed on the stock market?

A.

Our stock was listed on the 1st section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange on October 3, 2000. Following the restructuring of the Tokyo Stock Exchange market divisions on April 4, 2022, our stock has moved to the prime market.
