Under the slogan of “What we can do at this moment,” TV Asahi Group is working on environmental protection so that we can pass on the natural environment of the abundant and beautiful earth to our children and generations after them who will carry the future.
01We carry out “What we can do at this moment.”
We benefit from the earth in various ways including resources and energy necessary for business activities. The Group is aware of its role as a company to maintain the global environment in a better condition and is promoting initiatives to protect the global environment in its corporate activities.
Reduction of CO2 emissions
The Group, in its company-wide effort, has been working on reduction of CO2 emissions by switching to LED lightings in offices, controlling use of air-conditioning through the promotion of Cool Biz (dressing down) and introduction of window films, and greening of the headquarters building in accordance with a Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance. Consolidated subsidiary Shin-Ei Animation installed solar panels on its roof and uses the generated electricity. In accordance with the Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance on securing environment, TV Asahi aims to reduce CO2 emissions of the headquarters and Ark Broadcasting Center by 15% a year on average compared with the reference variable from FY16/3 to FY20/3.
Energy saving measures
In addition to electric power, the Group also saves energy resources such as gas and water. It has been introducing energy-saving facilities in a systematic manner at the EX Tower completed in October 2013 and the Wakabadai Media Center opened in April 2017.
Recycling of waste materials
As part of its initiatives for environment, TV Asahi, since December 1998, has been recycling used videotapes in addition to regular household waste. Every month, it collects disposed tapes from the videotape recycling sites and disassemble about 500 tapes a day and sort out the components.
The 35 to 50 types of disassembled videotape components are then used as recycled resources in construction materials and so forth.

TV Asahi proactively provides information regarding global environment such as global warming through its programs and public relations activities and think together with viewers.
TV Asahi aims to fulfill its social responsibility as a media company by offering information regarding global environment through events and on the Internet in addition to its programs so as to deepen viewers’ understanding and enhance their awareness.
